The eclectic Myrtle Beach farmers market, coordinated and managed by the nonprofit Waccamaw Market Cooperative, runs from late May through October. Waccamaw Market Cooperative’s operation is quite unique: They host six distinct farmers markets in six locations. Thankfully for visiting travelers, there’s seemingly always an opportunity nearby. Ocean Annie’s Resorts is a short drive from all six destinations, particularly Thursday’s gathering in Little River and Friday’s market along North Myrtle Beach’s 1st Avenue. Common purchases include fruit or vegetables for a beach picnic, handcrafted keepsakes, ocean-themed jewelry, or classic market eats, such as kettle corn, fudge, and pie.
The Waccamaw Market Cooperative
As previously mentioned, the Waccamaw Market Cooperative flawlessly collaborates with two counties and dozens of local vendors in an effort to promote regional businesses and provide easy access to hard-to-find commodities. It takes a small village of volunteers and nonprofit professionals to coordinate six farmers markets in four days. One of the most interesting aspects of the Myrtle Beach farmers market’s evolution is the birth of the country’s first “Mobile Market.” Much like a food truck, it will pop up at various bustling locales to serve fresh vegetables, ripe fruit, and baked goods to curious bystanders. There are dozens of vendors that frequent the Little River and North Myrtle Beach farmers markets. We’ve hand-selected 10 of our favorites (as seen below). Delicacies range from stuffed olives to homemade kombucha and microgreens.
- AwalWandering
- Benjamin’s Bakery & Cafe
- Dixieland Kettle Corn Company
- M&M Farms
- Mountain Man Honey and Goods
- My Olive Shack
- Rooted Beauty Pottery
- Stacy’s Kombucha
- Third Day Farms
- WK Price Farms
